Autodesk 3ds Max pricing in India is structured as an annual subscription billed in INR through an authorised Autodesk reseller. Every subscription includes Arnold — the production renderer that most Indian visualisation studios rely on for client-ready images.
This guide covers the 3ds Max subscription options available in India and helps studios decide between the individual subscription and the Media & Entertainment Collection.
3ds Max Subscription Plans — India 2025
All pricing is approximate INR through Cloudfy Systems (authorised Autodesk reseller) on annual commitment, per user per month, excluding 18% GST.
3ds Max (Individual Subscription) — ~₹17,500/user/month
Every 3ds Max annual subscription includes:
- Full 3ds Max — all polygon, spline, NURBS and procedural modelling tools
- Arnold renderer — production Monte Carlo ray-trace renderer, CPU and GPU support
- Particle Flow and MassFX — particle effects and physics simulation
- MAXScript and Python scripting — workflow automation and plugin development
- Autodesk Docs — 100GB cloud storage
- Latest version always — access to every new release during the subscription
Annual cost per user: Approximately ₹2,10,000–2,20,000 excluding GST.
Media & Entertainment Collection — ~₹28,000/user/month
The M&E Collection bundles 3ds Max with Maya and several additional tools for full production pipelines.
M&E Collection includes:
- 3ds Max (full version + Arnold)
- Autodesk Maya (full version + Arnold)
- Arnold (standalone Arnold licences)
- MotionBuilder (motion capture and character animation)
- Mudbox (digital sculpting and texture painting)
Annual cost per user: Approximately ₹3,36,000–3,48,000 excluding GST.
When is the Collection Worth It?
Buy individual 3ds Max when:
- Your team does primarily archviz, product visualisation or game environment art
- You do not need Maya's character animation or VFX capabilities
- Budget is a primary concern and individual seats are sufficient
Buy the M&E Collection when:
- Your studio uses both 3ds Max and Maya in the same pipeline
- You need Maya for character animation and 3ds Max for environment/scene work
- You produce animated content that requires MotionBuilder for mocap retargeting
- The combined individual subscription cost of 3ds Max + Maya exceeds the Collection price
For a typical Indian archviz studio or architectural rendering firm, the individual 3ds Max subscription is the right choice. For VFX studios and animation houses, the M&E Collection provides better overall value.
Arnold Renderer — What's Included
One of the most significant aspects of 3ds Max pricing is understanding what "Arnold included" means in practice.
Arnold for 3ds Max (MAXtoA) is a full Arnold licence:
- Unlimited local CPU and GPU rendering on the workstation
- Physical light and camera simulation
- Subsurface scattering, displacement, volumetrics
- Render regions and interactive IPR rendering
- Support for V-Ray, Corona and other render engine plugins (these require separate licences from their respective vendors)
What Arnold does NOT include at the 3ds Max subscription level:
- Render farm / distributed rendering licences (these require separate Arnold Render Node licences per farm node)
- Batch rendering on multiple separate machines
For studios running render farms alongside their 3ds Max licences, Arnold Render Node licences are purchased separately. Cloudfy Systems can advise on render farm licence requirements and pricing.
Third-Party Render Engines — What They Cost
Most Indian archviz studios use V-Ray or Corona Renderer alongside 3ds Max. These are third-party products with their own subscription pricing.
V-Ray for 3ds Max (Chaos Group): Approximately ₹3,000–4,000/user/month on annual subscription. V-Ray is the most widely used render engine in Indian architectural visualisation.
Corona Renderer (Chaos Group): Approximately ₹2,500–3,500/user/month on annual subscription. Corona is popular for its ease of use and speed in interior visualisation.
These are not included in 3ds Max or any Autodesk subscription — they are separate purchases from Chaos Group or their authorised resellers.
Total cost for a typical archviz workstation in India:
- 3ds Max: ~₹17,500/month
- V-Ray for 3ds Max: ~₹3,500/month
- Combined: ~₹21,000/user/month (excluding GST)
3ds Max AutoCAD Architecture Workflow in India
A common workflow in Indian archviz studios is:
- Receive AutoCAD DWG files from the architect
- Import DWG into 3ds Max and build or reference the geometry
- Apply materials, lighting and cameras
- Render with Arnold, V-Ray or Corona
- Post-process in Photoshop or DaVinci Resolve
For studios also using Revit, the Revit to 3ds Max workflow (via FBX or the 3ds Max Revit link plugin) is increasingly common — allowing direct import of the BIM model including materials, layers and room data.
Volume Pricing for Rendering Studios
Studios with multiple workstations benefit from:
Network licence (RLSA/NLM): Multiple 3ds Max seats managed through a central licence server. Users can "borrow" licences for offline use or field work. Useful for studios with render farms and multiple production machines.
Enterprise purchasing: Studios with 10+ seats can negotiate pricing through volume discussions with an authorised reseller.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does 3ds Max include V-Ray or Corona? No. 3ds Max includes Arnold renderer. V-Ray and Corona are separate purchases from Chaos Group. Most Indian studios use one of these three renderers.
Can I run 3ds Max on a GPU render farm? Arnold supports GPU rendering. For distributed rendering on multiple machines, each render node requires a separate Arnold licence (Arnold Render Node). Contact us for render farm licensing.
Is 3ds Max available for Mac? 3ds Max is Windows-only. There is no native macOS version. 3ds Max Web is not available in the way AutoCAD Web is. Mac users requiring 3D rendering typically use Maya (which is cross-platform) or use 3ds Max in a Windows virtual machine.
